CHRIS RIGONI Shapes & Shadows 12 BOTTLE TATTOO INK SET

Chris Rigoni, a professional artist from Melbourne, Australia, presents his new ink set, Shapes and Shadows. Named after the dimensional style of the incredibly realistic pieces for which he has become famous.

For Shape, there's bright teal and bright red. Two common colors used in his creations as overlays and shapes to cut out patterns. Also, as a contrast to the more subdued colors used in realism.

For Shadow, there are three muted shades, each divided into three different tones. There's a cool, neutral, and warm shade, which is further divided into dark, medium, and light tones. Chris often uses muted colors in the realistic aspects of his work—skulls, portraits, roses, and galaxy and space tattoos. He uses them either as natural colors within the design or as something to dip into and desaturate brighter colors, but never to adjust the warmth or coolness of the color.

To add depth, Chris likes the shapes in his creations to intersect behind and in front of the subject. He then adds shadows to the subject where they meet. For a more realistic look, he recommends using desaturated colors for the shadows. Hence the "Shadow" part of the name.

This muted set can also be used for all types of realistic and neo-traditional pieces, especially for black and grey artists who want to mix things up with an opaque background or section of the design. The Shapes and Shadows set can also be used for a desaturated opaque tattoo that has just a touch of color rather than being strictly black and grey.
